A simpler solution for snails and slugs (that never wakes the sleeping) is a homeopathic remedy called Helix tosta. https://homeopathyplus.com/snails-and-slugs-pack-their-bags-and-leave-with-homeopathy/

Hi Will, thanks for sharing! Have you tried this? I’ve found that soil health is the biggest factor of whether plants has disease or pest problems. We improve the quality of our soil by making lots of compost.

I haven't personally in my gardening days, but have heard of multiple success reports. Amen to healthy soil. Same is true for our gut microbiomes, skin, mouths, etc.

I didn’t know geese liked dandelions. I think dandelions are pretty, and I eat their leaves and roots. Also, my bearded dragon loves the flowers. Haha!

We got ducks for the slugs, but they ate all my brassicas so they had to leave. They are now fenced on the orchard side of the garden and we still have a slug problem. Love the fence solution!

Yes, that’s true, they can’t be left in the garden without supervision. We also had them fenced in a orchard area of the garden, then I would let them run around the garden for 30 minutes right before dark when the slugs were coming out as I took chicken eggs. I found that as long as they could find meat, they left the plants alone. It also works well to leave them on your garden space in the early spring for a few weeks before you start planting. They’ll dig around for the slugs and they’re eggs.

That’s a good idea about letting them in for a little while. We don’t ever have a fallow period - I’m in subtropical Australia!

Absolutely inspiring!! We have ducks too. I love having them around. Not geese though. But your fence of branches is fantastic. I have woven live mulberry bushes into a fence too. Willows will do the same. Have you tried that!
